Looking back on 2020
2019 was a shitty year. It was possibly one my unhappiest times, together with some of the shitty periods during my master. The first couple months of 2020 were even shittier. The second half of 2020 was way better though and I managed to get back to a way better state.
There’s a number of things I changed:
* We moved
* Stoic every morning
* Meditation every day
* Reading every day
* Having balance by doing bodily work
* Acker
* Sport
* Nature
* At least two social things per week
* 1on1 every week
* Don’t let work overtake everything, if some shit happens there this is such a big chunk of my life which is suddenly an issue and there’s nothing to counter-balance it.
* No more big tasks, split everything into small chunks
* Be more honest
* Put emphasis on my own needs
* Set up a financial plan and just stick to it.
* Quit trying to tune my own state of mind. No more nootropics and stuff.
* When I’m alone I try to do something for me that feels good, like taking a bath or ordering food.
Actually we just moved within Berlin in January! There was a really spontaneous option which showed up in December and we decided to take the opportunity. So we’re now already living in the young and vibrant Friedrichshain, one of the hippest districts in Berlin. We had real luck with the flat. It’s still ground floor, in the back-house, and has a small garden. The street is quiet, but it’s like one minute to a bakery and a couple restaurants, cafes and bars are nearby. If you walk like five-ten minutes there is an abundance of hip restaurants, ramen places, all kind of international food, a weekly market, a cinema, etc.. Yeah so this will all have a whole new impact on me and it will be interesting to see how I’ll be looking back on this in a year.

If this research on social media ends up in a place that says it causes that much harm on adolescents.
